I was hired to do the magazine reskin (not my design), add user comments to posts, add basic javascript in some places (pop ups, show/hide comments, validation), put up ads, and add a section for users to upload 1 or more images along with a description of the shot and a title. There was also a CMS portion for approving the photos, and for adding the thumbnail to the homepage sidebar.

This project involved multiple submission forms, user management, administrative users, editable stories and responses, 3-tier moderation for publication, in addition to the basic contest features when submitting, signing up, or voting on a story.

Given the complex legal rules for this project, the development was quite intense.

I started off by doing a few minimal, black/white drafts, but Scott decided he wanted to play it close to his previous design, with a nicer logo for his name, and some simplification of the major pages.

All basic informational pages, including the special styles for headings and sub-headings, are achievable through the Wordpress TinyMCE editing pane.

Besides the separation of content pages from blog pages, there was very little customized php code required for this project, resulting in a very quick load time on shared hosting.
